This is a near mint original WW1 wooden Police Drill award Truncheon to a Special Constable who saw service during WW1. It is 15” length and made of the traditional heavy Lignum vitae tropical hard wood. It has a deep grooved grip with rounded butt. The wood is undamaged with no dents. The butt is impressed by the maker ‘Hiatt's Co. Ltd, Birmingham’. The grip is fitted with original leather wrist strap with Matching maker ‘Hiatts Bham’ stamp. The staff is mounted with a sterling silver hallmarked presentation plate (the hallmarks are for R.Hodd & Son, London 1915).
