The blade and overall form is very similar to many other well documented plug bayonets of the period. The grip of turned walnut mounted with a finely worked cross guard and matching pommel cap. The quillons and pommel terminating in helmeted heads. Nice clear armourer's mark of a crowned head to both sides of the blade. Complete with its original tooled leather scabbard with matching mounts. The belt loop also with a matching helmeted head which is a very rare feature. Overall length in scabbard 20 inches. Slight age crack in wooden grip otherwise in very good overall condition. Blade length 13.75 inches. Very rare to find one of this type in such superb condition. (please see photos). Ref 1351.
