A very nice quality English Queen Anne style Flintlock Box-lock pocket pistol Circa 1760 - 1775. The side-plate engraved Thomas. Walnut butt with slab sided grips. Steel screw-off cannon barrel 2.5 inches in length. Two London V and P proof marks stamped into the underside of the breech. In working order and good condition, very strong spring. Overall length 7.25 inches. Approx .42 calibre. This is the type of pistol that would have been carried in a pocket or a saddle bag during the late 18th century by an English gentleman, traveller, or officer as a personal protection weapon.
