Circa 1800. TOWER mark stamped to the lock-plate, showing that it was manufactured at the Tower of London armoury. Crown over GR for King George 111 is engraved on the lock plate. George the Third was King of England from 1760 to 1820 and was monarch during some of the most turbulent years in British military history, mainly due to the lengthy wars going on in the Peninsular campaigns against the French led by Napoleon Bonaparte, as well as the uprising against the British crown in the USA, known as the American Revolutionary War. Fully stocked in walnut with a captive swivel steel ramrod, brass butt cap, side-plate, trigger guard and fore-end pipe. The 9 inch steel barrel stamped with British proof marks. Overall length 14.5 inches. Action in working order. Some dings and scratches during it's working life, rammer has been restored, some light pitting to the barrel, otherwise a good honest authentic Napoleonic era flintlock pistol. Ref 3723.
