Create my profile now!This is an original EIC Brown Bess flintlock musket in superb condition, refurbished to a high standard at some point in its life using all original parts. It measures 54 ½” overall length with a 39” round blued steel barrel. The barrel’s smooth bore has staining and residue consistent with age and use. The barrel has Nepalese (God Gahendra's Footprints) proofs (illustrated) & has a block fore sight. Its original lock plate is crisply marked with ‘EIC’ ownership mark, ‘Tow’ (John Tow maker mark. Joseph Griffin & John Tow Gunmakers, 10 New Bond Street, 1772-82. Warehouse, Ship Yard, Minors, 1777. Contractors to East India Company. Succeeded by John Tow see Howard L. Blackmore (1986) Gunmakers Of London, 1350-1850), ‘GR’ (King George III Rex) and dated ‘1779’. It has excellent wood work with brass furniture. The wood is marked with Board Of Ordnance ‘BO & Broad Arrow’ mark. The musket has its iron ramrod and sling swivels. The cock is fitted with flint & its cocking and firing mechanisms work crisply.
