Create my profile now!Hollis & Sheath were English, Birmingham based Gunmakers with premises at Weaman Row & 49 Whittall Street between 1849 to 1861 when the Business succeeded to Isaac Hollis & Sons (see page 251 of British Gunmakers Vol.2 by Brown). Hollis & Sheath also made military weapons for the British Board Of Ordnance. This is an excellent, original British Volunteer’s private purchase 2-band Percussion Rifle in .577" calibre. The action plate is faintly signed signed ‘Hollis & Sheath Makers To Her Majesty’s War Department’. It has all original walnut stock with steel butt plate, steel fore end block, bayonet bar & trigger guard with extended tang. The rifle also has its original steel ramrod, block with blade fore sight none standard graduated ladder rear sight with copper aiming ladder band (illustrated in image 3).The barrel’s bore has just light staining & residue consistent with age and use & its 3 band rifling is well defined. The metal work has even aged patina. Total length is 49” with a 33" barrel. The cocking & firing action works crisply. The price includes UK delivery.
