**AS FOUND & UN-MESSED WITH**WW2 British WD 2nd Pattern B2 Fairbairn Sykes FS Commando Fighting Knife & Scabbard. Sn 18258 - 18258

2nd Pattern Fairbairn Sykes 'FS' Fighting Knives were introduced in 1941 (see page 89-93 of The Fairbairn Sykes Fighting Knife & Other Commando Knives By Flook). This is an original, British WD WW2 2nd pattern, B2, FS dagger and scabbard in excellent condition. The hilt is blackened brass with knurled grip and a blued steel oval cross guard. The top of the cross guard is stamped with faint War Dept 'B2' and WD broad arrow designation. It has a 171mm long double edged blued blade with medial ridge. It is complete with original scabbard which has the correct blackened external brass chape. The scabbard retains its original 4 sewn on leather tabs and as is common its original elastic retaining strap is present but perished in places and detached from one edge of the belt loop.
