18th / 19th Century Persian Kulah Khud Spiked Iron Helmet With Hinged, Removable Nose / Face Guard & Chain Mail Protective Skirt. Sn 20420 - 20420

These Persian helmets were worn throughout the 17th century & 19th centuries. Examples of these helmets similar in form to our 19th century piece are illustrated on page 398 of ‘A Glossary Of Arms & Armour ‘ by Stone. The bowl shaped helmet has riveted scalloped strengthening bars to the skull & rim. It has the typical spiked top and 2 plume holders. Our example has a hinged holder for removable nose / face guard (see page 399 of Stone’s book). The bowl has no dents. The helmet has been cleaned at some point in its life by a previous owner. The helmet has its original chain mail guard protecting the face and is correctly longer at the back to protect the neck. It is approx. UK size 6 ½. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 20420
