Boer War Era German Mauser Model 1896 Deutsche Waffen Und Munitionsfabriken Berlin 7mm Calibre Mounted Infantry Carbine With Saddle Ring, Bayonet & Scabbard**UK 2003 DEACTIVATION CERTIFICATED**Sn 20067:58 - 20067:58

This is an original Mauser Model 1896 carbine. This model of rifle were used by Boer Kommandos / Mounted Infantry during the Anglo – Boer Wars. The woodwork and metal work are all original. The wood has just light bumps and bruises to be expected. The breech housing is stamped 'Deutsche Waffen Und Munitionsfabriken Berlin’ together with number 6479. It is complete with block & blade fore sight, flip up rear sight, bayonet lug, steel butt plate, sling swivels & saddle ring. The rifle comes with an original period bayonet and scabbard. The bayonet’s single edged fullered blade is 10” length and it measures 15” overall. It has a stel cross guard with muzzle ring and steel pommel numbered 4026. The pommel’s release button functions as it should. Its wood scales are undamaged. The bayonet’s steel scabbard has frog locket and ball end. The scabbard has a few small dents consistent with age and service use. There are no visible maker or date marks on the bayonet or scabbard. Deactivated to UK specification in 2003 the carbine cocks and dry fires. The price includes deactivation certificate and UK delivery**This Firearm is deactivated to one of the pre- 2nd May 2017, UK specifications.
