Produced by the esteemed British manufacturer Webley & Scott, it was first introduced in the early 20th century and quickly became a popular choice for sporting events. The Webley Mark 2 is a 6 shot blank firer. It features a sleek design with a sturdy construction, showcasing the craftsmanship and attention to detail for which Webley & Scott is renowned. The pistol is typically made of blued steel and features *white semi-chequered Bakelite grips, providing both durability and aesthetic appeal. This starting pistol fires .32 &.22 calibre blank cartridges, which produce a loud report and smoke when fired, creating a distinct signal for the commencement of races or other events. The reliability and loudness of the report made the Webley a preferred choice for many race officials and competitors. Although the Webley is primarily associated with sporting events, it also found its way into theatrical performances and historical re-enactments. Its realistic appearance and sound effects allowed it to effectively simulate the firing of a real firearm without the danger of live ammunition. This example is a Mark 2 model from the 1950’s. Its loading & firing mechanisms work correctly. The metalwork is very good with only minor use related marks. The grips are excellent. The pistol comes with its original Webley labelled box, original illustrated instruction leaflet which is torn and smudged with age. The pistol comes with its original .22 blank calibre 6 round magazine. This is a rare collectors item. The price includes UK delivery. NB as a top venting blank firer no licence is required to own this item in the UK. Sn 21198:1
