It is made of Brown Cowhide with full flap cover and single retaining strap with single stud fastener. It has a single magazine pouch on its front aspect, the top of which is covered by the flap when closed. The inside of the holster’s flap is impressed with maker’s name that looks like ‘Bern & Cie’ above crisp ‘1918’ date . The front of the holster has a cartouche ‘L.Z. St. J.Fbg’ which translates to “Light Aircraft Collection Directorate Freiberg” which indicates it was issued by the German Government department responsible for the acceptance of newly built aircraft into the German Air Force prior to the Treaty of Versailles which prohibited such activities from 1919. The spare magazine pouch size would indicate it was designed for 7.65mm calibre pistol. German forces carried a variety of sidearms in this calibre that would fit this holster. We have illustrated the holster fitted with WWI & inter war issue German Mauser Model 1914/34 pistol . It would also fit a Langenham, Dreyse, Menta, Walther Model 4 and Ortgies to name but a few. All leather & stitching are clean and intact. The price includes UK delivery. Sn 20836 (NB Please note the deactivated Model 1914 / 34 pistol illustrated in the images is not included but is available separately on our website stock number Sn 20774, we also have other period similar frame size German 7.65mm calibre semi auto pistols available)
