One large and one shallow dished guard fitted with a side thumb-ring. The double shell guard embossed with floral motifs. D shaped knuckle guard and side bar are chizzeled with figures. Double edged straight blade 33 inches in length with two narrow fullers. Overall length 39 inches. The leather grip covering is now worn away leaving the original wooden spiral carved grip with a single grip wire binding. It is complete with its Turk's head binding at the bottom of the grip. Flattened bun-shaped pommel with matching decoration. A very rare style of early rapier and in good condition with no damage to the sword. Ref 2989.
